Who We Are

Bryncynon StrategyThe Strategy emerged from the work of the local Residents Association in Bryncynon. They felt that they needed to take positive action to combat the problems and difficulties faced by the loss of the coal industry and associated jobs. The strategy has since moved forward to develop many initiatives to address the needs of the community, especially for young people.

Bryncynon CRS offers a holistic approach to community development, incorporating the following broad elements: education and training, social and recreational, childcare and health gain, economic development and environmental improvements. It is a 'not for profit' company and a registered charity, owned and run by members of the community.

What We Do

We work to build a community that is 'self-sufficient' and self-governing, where all ages can work together to ensure that its people are caring, tolerant, healthy, skilled and forward looking by:

  • Creating opportunities for local people to develop their skills
  • Developing a variety of initiatives that provide for the long term well being of the community

Why we do it

We want to help improve the quality of life and future prospects for everyone in the area. We want to ensure that local people can learn and train and have access to more recreational and social activities. We want to develop good quality childcare and healthcare that local people can access. We want to encourage the economic and environmental improvement of the area to secure a better future for the community
