3rd July 06 - Gower Excursion
There will be an opportunity to visit Gower on the Monday evening, before dinner, to see a few of the sights, including Arthur’s Stone (an excavated short barrow) and Rhosili Bay. Near the bay is Worm’s Head, the westernmost point of the peninsula, where many sea birds and seals breed.
On 9th May 1955, the Gower Peninsula was the first area in the UK to be declared Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is therefore celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this year. Because of its relative isolation, it has not been ‘developed’ in the way that so much of our countryside has been over the last century. There are large areas of common land, and an amazing variety of countryside and habitats for such a small area.
Further Information including Bus Pick Up Points will be availalbe at the conference

STONECRAFT

Stonecraft has currently three members: Andy (guitar, cittern and
vocals), Charlie (fiddle) and Viil (guitar and vocals). The band
were formed in summer 2005 when Charlie joined Andy and Viil after
a chance meeting in the pub.
The band plays a mixture of original and traditional music in the
folk/bluegrass tradition. Inspiration is taken from British, Irish,
French and Norwegian traditional music in addition to modern rock
and folk.
The band is currently gigging extensively throughout the South
Wales area; playing in pubs, cafes and private parties. The band
has just finished recording their first CD as a trio and this will
be available in the near future.
