Format of the guide

Quote from CUVP conference: ‘Changing Landscapes’

‘we need to work and deliver our services outside the conventional institutional boxes’.

The guide is an example of good practice and is accessible through each learning centre’s computer. It is our intention that each learning provider can up-date the information in the guide and tailor it to their individual, geographical and local knowledge sources.

Electronic information, makes it possible to employ visually impaired people within each centre. Information can be shared around the net work of the partnership via disc or email.

The guide includes scenarios/examples to aid understanding, prompt discussion and contribute towards development of good practice.

The scenarios/examples are taken from the code of practice of the Disability Discrimination Act: DDA; part 4

SENDA - Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Act.

The guide has a general equality/access checklist to enable each learning centre to make there own access assessment and make their own contribution to our recommendations.

Access must be seen as a developing process to learning; it is never an add-on or an after thought.

There is no longer a register of disabled people. Did you know that 6% of the population of Wales identify themselves as disabled people? The majority of disabled people have hidden impairments.

Think - how many of these potential adult learners can we include?
