Summary:

The presentation will report on good practice from BBC Education and look at work done in South West of England and the Channel Islands, collecting stories on World War 2, as part of the BBC People’s War archive.

This work has brought together a wide range of interested parties including museums, libraries, the Lottery Fund, veteran’s organisations, women’s organisations, volunteers and BBC Radio.

These partnership initiatives have helped develop the BBC Archive and increased opportunities for older learners, especially in the 70-85 plus age group, to learn IT skills.

Key issues for discussion will be:

• The importance of bringing together a wider range of providers than usual to inform and develop each others practice
• The growing importance and value of networking
• The need to bring more imagination and creativity into learning so as to increase its value to local communities
