Title of Presentation:  e-Learning and the Voluntary Sector

Summary:

 

The presentation links to the conference theme of Changing Communities, with a focus on e-learning and e-community developments.

 

It will report on voluntary sector research funded by the government agency, Education & Learning Wales (ELWa) which is aimed at facilitating and championing the use of e-learning within voluntary sector organisations within Rhondda Cynon Taff region of Wales.

 

The development has been termed E-Champion and is focused on strengthening the capacity of voluntary sector organisations through the development of IT skills and resources.

 

The main research tasks identified and discussed are the:

1. Mapping of providers of e-learning in the voluntary sector and the nature of provision.

2. Analysis of the voluntary sector’s use of and access to ICT and its awareness of how e-learning can assist its own effectiveness.

3. Assessment of ICT initiatives which impact on e-learning

4. Consideration of existing e-learning initiatives outside the voluntary sector which may be beneficial to link to or adopt
